How to Prepare for a Hurricane or Tropical Storm

When the weather man says that a hurricane or tropical storm will go to your area, there are a lot of things you must do. This is certainly not something you can take for granted because your life may be at stake. The natural disaster can cause a lot of damage and you may be left wondering what could have been. Here are a few things you can do to prepare for a tropical storm or a hurricane:

Move Important Documents

There are a lot of documents that you must save because when they get wet, then they will be gone forever. You would not want that to happen to your birth certificate, car registration, and marriage license. All those things would symbolize different events in your life that would matter even after several years. The last thing you would want to happen is to get new copies for those important documents when the typhoon is over which would be a big hassle.

Move Car Inside

There is a chance that the car would get drowned from bottom up to the very top. When water gets inside the car, you can kiss that investment down the drain. Thus, better move it to a place where water won’t get to the machine as it is dubbed as the brain of the vehicle. If you love your car, you must do everything in your power to take good care of it.

Move Pets Inside

If your pets live outside the house, it would be time to put them inside the house. They were there with us when we needed them the most so it would be time to do the opposite for them. Yes, that includes feeding and clothing them inside until they are fully satisfied with what you are doing them. They must be part of your family so it must be unfair to treat them like they are nothing when you let them stay outside of your house.

Full the Tanks

There will be times when the power will go out and you need to be totally prepared in the event if something like that happens. One thing to do would be to make sure your mobile phone is fully charged and avoid using it unless it is something pretty important. Another thing to do would be to full the tank of the car so that would be one less thing you would need to be worried about when you need to go the nearest grocery store to buy a few things that you would need.

Secure Wall Hangings and Exteriors

If there are things hanged on the wall, better take them down and put them somewhere where it is pretty safe. Besides, it would not make sense to do it at a time when you are struggling to stay alive. If you have a lot of things outside of your house, then you must put them all inside. Shop for Lots of Food

Remember, these things must be stuff that you can prepare for so that you would not want to starve at a time of a natural disaster.
